For the people wondering, what is a Sudo key? What is a pallet again?
Pallets are the building blocks for Polkadot/Kusama, the idea behind it is that once a pallet is developed by a team, other projects can easily cut and paste the pallet within their own project. All pallets have a specific function, and not all pallets are needed for every parachain, keeping parachains nice and light.
So for example, one team once made a ‘sudo key’ pallet, so Integritee did not have to create this themselves. Because the pallet has already been created and can be used by others, this decreases the complexity of building on Polkadot/Kusama, it decreases costs dramatically and increases safety since existing pallets have already been battle tested.
So Sudo what?!
The sudo key can be imagined as being the master key, that has super admin rights. As long as a sudo key is around, we cannot say a system is decentralized. Once removed, it’s up to the token holders to decide on governance.
The importance of the sudo removal:
While decentralization is hard to define, the removal of the sudo key is an important step for Integritee, by allowing governance to be fully in the hands of the token holders. This important milestone will allow Integritee.network to benefit from everything that comes with being decentralized.
